After Kota now in Jaipur some Muslim orgnisations held a rally in support of controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik. People’s Front of India (PFI) challenged the Centre to produce evidence that suggests Naik inspired terrorists in any way, reported TNN.

“I have been watching Naik’s videos since childhood. There has never been any reference to hostility against any faith or group. He is being targeted by BJP for polarisation and politi cal gains in the UP elections,” said PFI’s Khalid Manzoor.

Naik is facing allegations that some of those behind the Dhaka cafe killings drew inspiration from his speeches. The union home ministry and the Maharashtra government are examining his speeches of for “necessary action”.

Manzoor also raised questions about why a case was not registered against Naik even after reporting that terrorists were motivated by his speeches to undertake the July 1 attack killing several hostages. Syed Wahid Angarahshah, head of Anjuman, admitted to having sharp theological difference with Naik, but supported him, said TNN.
